Stephen Torton is an artist and photographer best known for his close collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat during the early 1980s. Serving as Basquiat’s studio assistant from 1982 to 1983, Torton played a crucial role in the creation of several iconic works, contributing to the design and construction of multipart stretchers that became a signature feature of Basquiat's paintings.
